AIT Aero Weather Forecast Platform introduction

AIT Aero Weather Forecast Platform was contracted as a custom made product for ATMB/CAAC Meteorological Centers and seven area meteorological centers around China, system expected to come online this year.

Aero Weather Forecast Platform utilizes weather data and information from central weather database system in China, provides an open platform for weather forecasters to browse and search weather data, generate weather forecast and also produce graphical charts and reports. This platform is designed with use-friendly interface, greatly enhanced the automation of the weather data communication and weather services. It also improves intellectualization of the data analysis and satisfies the security and quality requirement for the civil aviation.

Aero Weather Forecast Platform includes 3 parts:

1. Forecaster Graphical Work Station

Forecaster Graphical Work Station can provide the following weather charts:

lRegular weather charts, including: surface synoptic chart, upper-level chart, streamline chart and tropopause chart.

lTropical cyclone chart, cross-section chart, T-logP chart, time series chart

and other various graphical charts from basic weather data,

lOther graphical images, including radar image, satellite cloud image, fax image etc

lGraphical charts from Air report and AWOS data

lFixed time forecast chart and upper wind and temperature chart.

This platform can move, zoom, overlay, split screen display and generate animation for all the charts.

2. MET Message Terminal

MET message terminal can store various MET message templates, including TAF(FC,FT), SIGMET, AIRMET, GAMET, ROFOR, wind shear warnings, aerodrome warnings, SIGMET-VA and SIGMET-TC, easy for forecaster to compose, edit and send those messages more efficiently.

The terminal also provides easy search function from central weather database.

3. Weather information Service Platform

Weather information Service Platform can help forecaster to generate aerodrome warnings, low-level wind shear warnings, severe weather warning, weather trend forecast and other weather information.
